Privacy policy

What we collect

When you sign the petition, we ask for your first and last name, your email address, and your ZIP code. We record that you signed and the day you confirmed it.

We also keep a small amount of technical information that comes with any web request, such as your browser type. We do not store your raw IP address. We keep only a one-way fingerprint of it, which lets us catch spam and duplicate signatures without holding on to the address itself.

How we use it

Your information supports the petition and nothing else. We use it to count and verify signatures, to show how much support the campaign has, to email you about the campaign, and to help you take the next steps such as sharing or writing your legislator.

As part of showing public support, and only with your consent, we will display your first name and the first letter of your last name. We never show your full name, email, or exact location. If you leave a comment, we may publish it alongside your first name and last initial.

Confirming your signature

We use double opt-in. After you sign, we email you a single link to confirm. Your signature counts once you click it. The link works only once and expires after a short window. We store the confirmation link only as a hashed value, so the original is never kept on our servers.

Email

We email you to confirm your signature and to send campaign updates. Every campaign email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. Confirmation emails are a necessary part of signing, so those are not marketing.

Cookies and local storage

We set one signed cookie that remembers you have already signed, so the site can greet you correctly instead of showing the form again. It holds no advertising or tracking data. We keep a matching copy in your browser's local storage for the same purpose. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

Who handles your data

A few trusted services help us run the campaign. Our database is hosted by Supabase, our email is sent through Resend, and the site is hosted on Vercel. Each processes your information only to provide its service to us. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from campaign email using the link in any message. You can also ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. Email us and we will take care of it.
